5VAIKOAU DOG TRIALS CON.CLDDE. SOME GOOD PERFORMANCES. The final event of the Waikoau Dog Trials was run off 'yesterday, a very large field of eompetitors lining up as evidenee of the popularity of the fixture. The hest, performance was given hy T. Thom's Lad, the dog responding m a very intelligent manner to good management. Several other good performances were also given hy the dther competing dogs, and the margin of only one point between the first and second dogs fully describes the high order of the performance. The result of yesterday' s event was as follows: — class m Hnntaway. J. Thom's Lad. 18, 9, 5, 12-44 ... 1 E. Dahm's Slope, 18, 8 6, 11—43 2 L. Lopdell's Rod, 17, 8*. 6, 11—42 3 E. Dahm's Mick. 16, 8, 5, 10—39... 4 The trophies won over the whole three days Of the meeting were as follow : — Guthrie Smith Cup, class I., R. R. Whyte; Napier Dairy Company's Challenge Vase, class IA, R. R. Whyte ; Langley and Jenkins Cup, class II., W. Whyte; L. D. Carter's Cup, class III., J. Thom; Hoadley, Son and Stewart Cup, maiden dog. class II., E. R. Lowe; Ridgemount Cup, for any competitor who has never won a cup or gold medal gaining the highest ag-gi-egate, A. Stead ; Mrs E. Lowe's Cup, for competitor who has never won a first or second place in an open event (one dog in class I., and one in trophy for highest unplaced competitor, class III.), B. Paget; Mr Patterson's trophy for highest unplaced competitor, A. Stead. There was 0 happv ceremony after the meeting, when the popular Jndge. Mr McFarland, was pfesented witli a fine snitcase, in appreciation of the work he had put in in the interests of the meeting.
