Tardieu will feel safe * enough. in the Premiership to ask any heroic proposal'to cut down the French ntival demands. A large majority of the Chamber is opposed to a reduction without a further guarantee. M. Tardieu has suffei^ ed several defeaffe on minor points and no one regards his originnl majoritv of flfty as any criterion of the real ParlJamentary eituation in France. Tn the 'House of Commons RearAdmiral T P. H. Benmish asked Mr Snowden to convey to Mr MacDonald the generally exnressed opinion that no agreement wonld h« hetter th°n a nartial one between the oceanic Powers.. Mr Snowden promised to convey the views to Mr MacDonald.
