TWO POLICEMEN KILLED. Death Penalty To Be Asked For.
VANCOUVER, March 15. A message from Denver states that three desperate bandits killed two police and badly wounded four others following their- dash upon the State Bank of Manter, Kansas, and robbing it of £1000. As Eades, Colorado, Sheriff Lickman was killed when a posse attempted to stop the bandits' motor car, which was speeding through the town to the western mountain passes. Sheriff William Cole and three officers attempted to hold them crossing a highway at Cheyene, Wells, but the bandits killed Cole, wopnded two of his men, eaptured their automobile, and headed eastwards. The three desperadoes were surrounded and surrendered to machinegun fire, after leading the police a hard chase through three States for twenty-seven hours. All were escaped prisoners previously convicted of murder. The police will demand the death penalty for the slaying of two sheriffs.
