AT THE LODGE
GOOD YARDINGS RECORDED. PRICES SLIGHTLY REDUCED. There was a good yarding of cattle at the Stortford Lodge sale yards today, including many local entries. Tlie attendance of buyers was fair, but bidding was rather slow and the fact that tlie majority of entries were below the usual standard eaused prices to be somewhat smaller than last week's. There were exceptions, however, as in the case of two prime P.A. bullocks which realised £14 8s 6d, the general average heing from £9 10s to £13. Fat bullocks fetched up to £11 16s. Prime |?ows sold fairly well, up to £9 6s being given for better .quality offerings. Fat cows ranged to £8. Steers ofprime quality brought up to £11 2s 6d and fat heifers were in good demand -at £9 10s. Vealers fetched up to £3 7s 6d, The sheep pens were well filled, but, as in the case of tlie cattle, there was a tendency for smaller prices,' this being- attributed to the feed "scarcity. A good line of six fat wethers sold at 24s and a line of 16 prime fat ewes brought 19s 7d. Lambs sold well at 17s 8d, •hut two prime quality offerings brought 20s. ■ .
