MOTHERS' CHAIR APPEAL.
HELEN C. LOWRY, Provincial President.
(To" the Editor.) Sir, — May I, through y.our paper, thank all those committees right tlirongh the Wellington, Taranaki and; Hawke's Bay Pi'ovinces who liave worked so nobly and willingly to assist me in the Mothers' Chair Appeal? It ;is siihply • wonderf ul what a band of wqmen can do if they tvy ; but as we need more before the appeal-'closes ■ on April 1 may I ask all those who have not already helped me to get our desired quota to givq ls or more, as their means allow, before' it is too late? They will never have another chance. As this fund is not a yeariy subscription, I aslc only once in a woman's lifetime to give, and surely every mother or sister wants to help the future mothers in New Zealand to health an# happiness. Napier, Hastings and surrounding districts have raised £800, and Bhere is now £450 more left for Hawke's Bay to raise. The country towns and districts of Waipukurau, Waipawa, Wairoa, Dannevirke and Woodville reports are not to hand yet. Surely £450 is new too great a sum to try to raise, not to" let me down. When I tell you that Marton got £200 and Taihape £230- — £100 over their quota already-— and Wanganui- and Taranaki nearly finighed their quotas, Palmerston well on thb way, and also Wairarapa nearly £600 — well, surely Hawke's Bay is not going to lose its well-known and generous name for assisting suffering humanity. Give now — no matter how little— please, before April 1.— I am, etc.,
Okawa, March 25, 1930.
