start 0f campaign For "Civil Independence" Of India MARCH TO SEA COAST.

i (Eeeeived lhis Day, Noou.i DELHI. March 26. The town of Gujranwala, which was the scene of fierce rioting in the revolutionhry outbreak of 1919, has been cbosen by P.unjab Nationalists as the centre for the start of the provincial civil independence campaign. Detachments of Nationalist volunteers from Lahore will, on April 6, hoist the l'ndian National flag over the Town Hall. in defiance of the Government orders. Thirty-four Congress workers were arrested in the Dnited Provinces for carrying out propaganda work in connection with Gandhi's campaign. A movement ' is being started amongst Indian women to boycott foreign yarn and cloth. It is understood tbat Gandhi was disappointed with the results of his march to the sea coast. He received little hospitality or support from villagers in the Broach district and a large number of village headmen, who resigned under pressure from Gandhi, have now applied to the Government for reinstatement. This has caused bitterness among Mahatma's followers, whose morale is already suffering by reason of the fact that nearly 80 of their numher have fallen out owing to sickness. It is consideried in Government quarters that if th'e authorities combine firmness with patience, Gandhi's campaign will prove a complete fiasco.
