THE RUGBY SEASON
NEW SENIOR. TEAM IN HASTINGS. MAORI ALL BLACK TO PLAY. An additional senior Rughy team — the fifth from Hastings — is • to make its a'ppearance during the coming season, the new' combination heing the Maori team Tamatea, wlio had previously played in junior class. In the new team's ranks will be the Rev. Wanoa, an ex-Te Aute College player who last year was a Maori All Black and Auckland representative. At tlje meeting of the club • held this week, the Rev. Wanoa was heartily welcomed by Mr P. H. Tomoana, who presided over the meeting. 1 The Rt. Rev. the Bishop of Aotearoa was elected patron of the club and Mr Ike Robin, president. The general committee will comprise Messrs P. H. Tomoana (chaimian). H. Turiri, Pani^ Wairoa, G. Tupaea, J. Russell, T. Tomlin, W. H. Nikera and the Revs. Rangiaho, Wanoa and Hakiwai. Mr Bob Tutaki was appointed secretary and Mr Ike Robin treasurer. The club's colours will be red and black and 35 names have been placed ori the players' roll. Mr J. Kahaki donated a trophy to be awarded to the best all-round player in the club. The team will commence practices at Nelson Park, Hastings, to-night, at eight o'clock.
