LEGION OF FRONTIERSMEN
FAREWELL TO A COMRADE. The Heretaunga Squadron Legion of Frontiersmen held a meeting on Thursday evening. In the absence of Col. Holderness, O.C., Lieut. A. A George occupied tli5 cliair. After nsual business the ehairman said they ivere about to lose a comradc, for a_ time at Jeast, and it was the wish of the squadrqn to show its appreciation of the comradds efforts on behalf. of the legion. It was resolved that a letter be drafted and handed to Sergeant Percy Alsop. as follows : — "This meeting, having heard that Comrade Sergeant Percy Alsop is being transferred by the Police Department for a period to Samoa, wishes to congratulate him 011 being chosen for this important duty, and wishes him good health, a pleasant voyage and a good time wliile iu his new sphere of work." All present had some eood things to say for the comrade and liis health was eeiebrated in the way which is usual amongst frontiersmen.
