ANNUAL PICNIC
BLYTHES' STAFF OUT FOR FUN. Blythe's picnic was held on Saturday, aud was favoured with particularly fine weather. A party of approximately 100 left the Napier station at 12.45 in a special train and proceeded to Conway' s paddock, which ' was kindlv lent for the occasion^ a distance of about three miles beyond Eskdale. The party was a most happy one and thoroughly eiijoyed the outing. Sports v. ere held and very interesting results were experienced. They , were as follow: — Boys' iace, 50 yards. — Pidd 1, Rowe 2. Girls' race, 100 yards. — Fulford 1, Millar 2, Beale 3. A very fine racs. Ladies' race. — Miss Pearcey 1, Miss Kauter 2. Married men. — Cook 1, Belcher 2. Married ladies. — Mrs Guerney 1, Mrs Simm 2. Tug-of-war. — Patterson's team 1. A fine contest. Three-legged race. — -Miss Pearcey and Fulford 1, Miss Byles and Bowell 2. Men's reveille race. — Millar 1, Guerney 2. Ladies' reveille race. — Miss ♦Phiffips 1, Miss McLellan 2. At the conclusion Mr Burt expressed the .staff's appreciation of the picnic and best thanks to the management ancl directors for ifcs provision. Mr Houston, manager, ih response, expressed his pleasure in being amongst them and looked forward to many rnoro .. equally successful outings._ Thanks rnust be extended to the railway staff for efficient and prompt service even to the printing on the tickets, "Blythes Ltd. — Excursion."
