SUB-UNION MEETS
. RUGBY AFFAIRS IN CENTRAL HAWKE'S BAY. The first meeting of the management committee of the Central Hawke's Bay Rugby Sub-Union was held last' evening, Mr W. H. L. Williams presiding over Messrs W. Adams (Waipukurau), D. P. Dinnan (Referees' Association), P R. Smyrk (Takapau), R. S. Ricketts (Old Boys), T. Haldane (Onga Onga), R. Wynn (Waipawa), J. Reidy (Waipukurau High School), G. Black (secretary). Tlie question of whether the Te Aute team would take part in home and home games was deferred until next meeting to allow the principal (Mr E. Loten) to attend. The Old Boys' Club was granteJ. the use of two grounds to play a senior and junior game with Napier H.S.O.B. Club on Saturday next. Mr Ricketts explained the position regarding the residential qualifications of J. Macfarlane and this player was granted permission to play for the Old Boys' Club. It was decided after considerable discussion that tha playing of the seven-a-side tournament he deferred until the completion of fixtures. Messrs Smyrk and Black wei*e appointed the fixtures committee. Messrs Adam, Wynn and Dinnan were appointed the postponeiiient committee. "he question of the sub-union taking control of country grounds was discuss- ' ed at length and it was resolved that a sub-committee consisting of the chairman, the secretary and Mr Ricketts be set up to wait on the management committee of the Onga Onga Club. A resolution was passed placing upon record appreciation of the action of the Hawke's Bay Rugby Union in appointing the sn'b-union's president as president of the Hawke's Bay Union and heartily congratulating Mr Wood on his appointment.
