STORTFORD LODGE SALE
SMALL YARDING RECORDED. AVERAGE PRICES MAINTAINED. There was a good attendance of buyers at the Stortford Lodge saleyards to-day 'but the yarding of cattle was one of the smallest recorded for some time. Competition was fairly keen and prices generally were up to ruling market rates. Only one fat bullock was yarded, this selling at £14 2s. There was a good demand for fat cows, a good P.A. realising £10 12s, with others from £7 5s to £10 7s. Store cows were not much in demand, several lines being passed in, but for fat heifers there was good competition, prices ranging from £2 15s to £9 12s 6d. Steers sold from £2 15s to £5 10s. The attendance at tlie sheep pens was also good but the yarding was again smalier than usual. Generally bidding was rather slow and many lines were passed in. Fat wethers sold up to 24s and stores, of which there were several large lines, up to 20s 9d. Fat ewes realised from 16s 6d to 19s, maiden ewes being in better demand and bringing up to 23s 8d. -Tlie hest price for stores ewes was 18s. There was not much call for lambs, prices ranging from 16s 6d to 19s 6d.
