A bright and entertaining programme will be presented at the popular Majestic Theatre to-night. Antics of three women-fearing gobs rnalce Dames Amoy," Universal comedy, one of the funniest talking pictures of the current season. Glenn Tryon is at his laugh-provoking best as a young sailor wlio gocs aground on the reef of matriraonv. His fellow-gobs. in the persons of Otis Harlan and Eddie Gribbon, also turn in highly amusing performances. Tbe' plot deals with the ventures pf the three gobs who set out, while on shore leave, to find a blonde who has tricked one of their number into signing awav half his pay. The complications are heightened when Tryon, ignorant of what he is doing, wins a dance contest carrymg a prize of £100 — , a bungalow and a bride. Tlie greater part of the liilarious action of "Dames Ahoy" is laid at an ainusement beach. One of the most amusing sequences is the singing oi the famous sailor song, "Barnacle Bill." Helen AVright, a newcomer to the screen, has the role of ieading lady. Miss Wright is young, charming and talented, and her work m her first picture forecasts a spectacularly successful film career. William James Craft has done an excellent job of d'rection with "Dames Ahoy." Sherman Lowe wrote the story, Matt Taylor the adaptation, and Albert DeAIond the dialogue. An excellent selection of all-talkie short subjects includes one of the popular "Micky the Mouse" carioons, "The Haunted House."
