"On The Hearts Of Men."
Memory Ever Green. "It is quite true," said Mr Mason, "that throughout the year the memory cf Anzac is brought back to us by some incident — some phrase in literature, some memory, or the passing of a relative or a friend. We are contmually reminded of Gallopoli. But to-day there is a difference. We have met to pay our respects to those 17,000 who gave their lives for this country without receiving any gam. "Tangible memorials are still being erected to those men. The most recently opened is the War Memorial Museum in Auckland, over which there is the inscription — 'The Whole Earth is the Sepulchre of Famous Men' but 'the memory is graven not only in stone, but on the hearts of men.' "The service here is only to express outwardly a tribute for the men who made the sacrifice," said Mr Mason. "Every where in New Zealand to-day, rich and poor, young and old of every class and _ creed nnfte to show their appreciation of that sacrifice. It is only fitting that we should rememher and that the younger people should be taught to appreciate the fact that we enjoy our freedom and our privileges through the devotion to duty, the valour, and the national pride of those men."
