INFLICTED FINKS TOTAL £576.
WELLINGTON, This day. Fines totailing £575 were imposed by Mr E. Page, S.M., on four men who pleaded guilty to book-niakmg. They were : Harry Corner, aged 38, barman, charged with using the private bar of the. Carlton Hotel as a common gammg , house, fined £50, in default two months. Robert Henry. Jones, who had been prqviously convicted, was fined the substantial sum of £300. Ralph Ellis Thompson, aged 50, also previously convicted, was fined £200. Edward George Minns, aged 50, was fined £25, in default two months, Defaults in the cases of Jones and Thompson were three and two nlontlis respectively. .. . A fifth man, Stanley William Fmd- ' lay, aged 41, eleeted to he tried by iury, and was remanded to May 7 on bail.
