USE OF THE HARROW
HllSJT TO HAWKE'S BAY FARMERS MAKING THE BEST OF RECENT RAIN. The light rains of the past few days will not have veiy much effect in bringing the Winter growth away on Hawke's Bay pastures unless followed up by heavy downpours later this week. Nevertheless they have had the effect of moistening the ground. and Hawke's , Bay farmers should make the fuik-t! ! possible use of them hy running flie harrows across their paddocks witbin the next few days ■ and spreading the sheep and cattle droppings, instead of, as is done in too many instances, leaving them vndisturbed. Such an action leaves an opening for an accusation of slovenly farmii g methods. Fanners in other areas a.e very sensible to tbe value of runnii.j; the_ harrows across their paddocks. periodically after light rain, and it is a practice which it would pay Hawke's l Bay farmers to follow.
