Chief Engineer Burnt and Pumpman Shipley were fined £50 and £5 respectitely ' for having stated falsely at the inquirv regarcli'ng tlie fire on the steamer British Honour at Newcastle on February 24 that the seacocks were closed. whereas two were open permitting tlie escape of oil on to tlie harbour surfaee. • This led to the rapid spread of tbe fire which overwlielmed tlie ship.
