DUMPING FEARED

MANUFACTURERS CONCERNED. MATTER BEING WATCHED.
WELLINGTON. Last night. At the meeting of the Wellington Manufacturers' Association to-mght the secretaory reported the receipt of the following telegram from the Clu-ist-church Association : — "Is the federation takiugr any action re dumping, as a result of the Australian tariff m view of the cheap imported goods reoffered here from Australia?" • The secretary reported that he had seen Dr. G. Craig, Controller of Customs, who said that his department was watching the matter very closely. He had replied to Christchurch that it was doubtful if anything further could be done in the meantime, but asked if specific iustances could he given where goods were being redirected to New Zealand from Australia. | The matter of unstamped imported hoots coming into New Zealand. nad also been mentioned, and if there was any evidence of this, the Customs Department would like to be advised on the eu'bject.
