MAJESTIC THEATRE TO-NIGHT.
#In the Headlines," Warner Bros.' new "productidn which comes to the Majestie on Saturday, is an authentic picturisation of newspaper life. James Atherton Starr, one of the best known newspapermen in Hollywood, wrote the original story, and Joseph Jackson, another newspaperman, prepared the screen adaptation. Starr at present is a dialogue and title writer under eontract to Warner Bros. and is also editor of "Cinematters, " the widely read film section of one of the Los Angeles dailies. Jackson is also under a contract to Warner Bros. as a writer. One of the manv ways in which newspapers solve baffling mysteries single-handed is grapbically rerealed in "In tbe Headlines." Innumerable cases are on record in which rtporters on large city daily papers liave brought desperate criminals to bay and lifted the veil of mystery tbat has surrounded the crime. This is by no means confined to city newspapermen. Small town editors and reporters have frequentlv operated alone or •ii conjunction with the local police. Despite this apparently uncanny display of "detective sense," the solving of such mysteries by reporters in the great majority of cases has been merely their determination to get the news. In order to "scoop" their rival papers, they liave turned detective on their own. Grant^ Withers plays superbly the part of Nosey Norton, star reporter, in "In the Headlines" — the man who brings about the solution of a double murder which has baffled the entire police force. Young Withers displays a fine flair for comedy and love-making into the bargain. Exquisite Marion Nixon lias the leading feminine role opposite Withers, wliile the all-star cast includes Frank Campeau, Vivian Oakland, Edmund Breese, Robert Ober, Pauline Baron. Hallam Cooley, Ben Hall, Jack Wise, and many others. Excellent programme of shcrt subjects that will b,e enjoyed by all.
