CHRISTCHURCH PRODUCE MARKET.

CHRISTCHURCH, Last night. The market for oats continues firm and the southern price to-day a shade better. A Gartons for prompt deliveiy are obtainable at 4s f.o.b. S.I., but tli'at figure will not secure as for spread delivery. B's are still very hard to obtain and qxxotations are 3s. lOkl f.o.b. S.I. for prompts and 3s lld for spreads. Chaff has firmed sliglitly. Quotations for prompt delivery are £7 f.o.b., S.I., equivalent to £5 10s on trucks. Quotations for wheat are .unaltered and are 5s Sd to 5s 9d for Tuscan, 5s 9d to os lOd for Hunters and 5s lld to 6s f.o.b. for Pearl, on trucks price in each case. There is a little business being done in next season's wheat on the basis of os 6d for Tuscan, 5s 8d f.o.b. for Hunters and to 5s lld for Pearl. Fowl wheat is very scai*ce, and has fix-med a little. It is now quoted at os lld to 6s f.o.b., S.I., equivalent to 5s 6d to 5s 7d on trucks. The potato market is very weak. There was a small slxort-lived firming. The Auckland market is reported as having an over supply. The Katoa will take 5000 saeks approximately on Monday for the nortlxern port. The price paid to farnxers is £3 5s on trucks. Forwai'd quotations, which ax-e also unaltered, are: June £4 12s 6d. Jul^ £5, July-September £5 10s. The onion market is scarcely as good as last week, and the demand has eascd. Prices to farmers on trucks liave varied during the past week from £3 to £3 10s a ton and to-day can he quoted at £3 to £3 5s. Growers generallv are holding supplies. Thex'e has heexx' a better demand for peas dux-ing the last few days and today's quotation records a shax-p rise especially for No. l's. Saies have beexx made up to 5s 9d f.o.b., S.I., for No. l's, which is equivalent to 5s on truck. F.a.q. '§ are not affected to the same extent and are quoted at from 4s 2d to 4s 4d oxi trucks.
