NAPIER PARK RACING CLUB.
A committee meeting of the Napier Park Racing Club was held on Tuesday afternoon, Mr C. E. Twist presiding over Messrs Fox, Ruddenklau, McNiven, Miller, Parker, Watters and. Williams. Mr W. E. Barnafd, M.P., wrote advising the club that the Miiiister of Internal Affairs liad. now statutory authority to specify the impi'ovements on which tlie Government annual lefund of £250 ean be expended. — Mr Barnard to be thanked for his efforts in the matter. The offer of Messrs Mnrton?s- Ltd., Port Ahuriri, to provide a silver cup for the Ahuriri Cup Handicap, for hacks, to be ruu 011 the second day oft tlie Autunm hleeting, was accepted. Tlie secretary was instructed to convey the committee' s liigh appreciation 01 their generous gift. The interim bahuice-sheet of the Spring Meeting, showing a small profit, was read and approved. Thirty-five now members were elected. » The chairman reported that the contractors, Messrs Robert Holt and Sons, were weli 011 the way with their contraet for painting the grandstand and other buildings on the course. The alterations and additions to the horse stalls were now completed, as well as repairs to the hiside rail round the course. Owing to wet weather the filling in o'f the lake in the motor paddock was not quite completed, but would be available for the Autumn Meeting. The chairman also stated that the new mile start had been grassed, the drainage of same attended to, and it was expected to be in use also for the first time at the next race meeting. Accounts totalling £350 were passed for payment.
