TRAIN HITS LORRY. WHEEL PASSES OVER HEAD.

PALMERSTON N., This day. A motor lorry owned and driven by Mr Saniuel; Bambery, of Palmerston Nortb, collided with the Palmerston North-Foxton train at the crossing leading into the_ Bainessee factory sliortly before mid-day, resulting in the death of Mr Bambery. The latter and his partner were engaged in carting posts from Palmerston North to a farm adjacent to tlie factory. He eyidently failed to notice tilie train approaching from behind wlien he turned to cross the line. The train struc-k the lorry by the door. The cab of tlie veihicle was carried about a cliain down the line. Mr Bambery was found at tlie rear of the lorry, the back wlieel of which had apparently passed over ■ liis head.
