AN EASY TONE
YESTERDAY' S STORE SHEEP SALE HASTINGS MARKET VALUES. BUYERS BETRAY LITTLE INTEREST. Not a very great deal of interest was betrayed in the store slieep sold at Stortford Lodge yesterday afternoon, when the yarding, some *3000 stroug, included some really first-class offerings. The yarding generally was a mixed oue and the lighter and poorer class of offering met with no demand whatever. Young sheep sold at low rates and fcliere were some goocl hogget lines "on oft'er during the afternoon. There was furtlier very little demand for ewes and lambs. An idea of the price range can be gleaned from the following values : — A draft off Messrs C. Rosser and Sons' Paki Paki property, 236 woolly wether hoggets a good briglit looking line, sold at 15s 6d. Anotlier line from the same property, 356 woolly ewe hoggets, well-woolled and in equally good condition to the (irst offering, sold at 18s 3d. A bonny line of fat and forward wethers, big-framed sheep well-woolled and some of tliem fit for the fat pens, made 22s. A very light line of shorn 2-th wethers made a slow sale, to he finally knocked down at 9s lld. A bid of 18s secured a line of 128 ewe hoggets mixed in the wool fair in the frame. Anotlier ewe hogget line, 250 in number, mixed in size and wool, made 13s 6d. A hundred and fifty-six mixed sex hoggets a big framed mob of bright young _ sheep, made 15s 9d. "A bid of 18s ld was a cbeap price for a good ewe and lamb line, the ewes aged, but fairly woolled and the lambs a good sturdy stamp.
