LONDON, Nov. 29. A multitude of flappers old and young, invaded Victoria Station and mobbed 3Iaurice Clievalier, wffo appears definitely to have dethroned Valentino. He arrived by special train, and thus had the platfonn to himself. The crowd passed tlie time singing Clievalier songs, and when he appeared there was an immense uproar, girls throwing kisses, waving liandkerchiefs and crying weloomes, to which Chevalier, who was wearing liis famous straw hat, pursed liis lips, expressing whimsical wonder, and waved in the direction of tlie seetliing crowd. Gramoplioues continued to play songs. Clievalier then stepped to a microphone installed on the platform, and in iiesitating Englisli said: "I am happy to retnrn to London," Only one girl secured liis antograph, but a number managed to perch on tlie running board of Cbevalier's motor car for a few seeonds till the police guard pushed them off.
