CUP GOES TO SARGON.

AUCKLAND, Last night. The Takapuna?. Jockey Club's Spring meeting openecl in fine weather. The course was in good order and the attendance was between 9000 and 10,000, a record for »the Spring meeting. Great interest was taken in the 6s totalisator innovation, these windows being heavily patronised, necessitating an increase in numher. The machine liandled £36,516 15s, compared with £42,500 on the first day of last vear — a decrease of £59S3 5s. The result was considered very satisfactory.
