KELLY'S BURGLARY
MAN CHARGED IN NAPIER. SMART WORK BY POLICE. REMANDED TO FRIDAY NEXT. Exactly a fortniglit ago the Napier business community was startled by an apparently traceless burglary which was carried out at the premises of Kelly's Cash Store in Emerson street, Napier, when tho safe was found to be open and £52 in cash missing, entrance to the office having heen gained by climbing a fence at the rear and removing a door by unserewing the liinges. No papers were taken and apparently 110 trace left. Nevertheless the Napier detective force was quickly to work and at the Napier Polic© Court this morning David Lawrence Atkinson, aged 20, of England, was charged with tlie crime of unlawfully entering and the theft of £52. Mr C. F. H. Pollock, J.P., was on the Bench and on the application of Scnior-Sergeant Rtark the accused was remanded till Friday, December 12. A second arrest was effected yesterday at Palmerston, as a result of which a man called Pemberton will appear on Friday at Napier alleging connection with tlie same crime.
