In view of the recent rumours that s the Liberhl Party liad agreed condi- . tiona.lly to support the Government, the speech of Mr Lloyd, George to the Liberal candidates to-day was'awaited with interest. He said 'that there was no pact . to announce. Ho was there to expound a polic, y, He criticised the Labour Government but said that ari eieetioilmight mean a Conservative victory in-' volving protection for the gerieration. Therefore, tlie Government should ha defeated only on an issue vital to tho nation. The Government would need LiBerbl goodwill arid help and urgerit problems must he tackled and electoral reforra carried through. Qnestioned later, Mr Lloyd George repeated, "There is no pact and no - deal."
