HAWKE'S BAY HAY CROPS
SOUTHERN YIELDS IN FAIR ORDER, BE1TER CONDITION THAN IN OTHER DISTR1CTS. A great deal of hay has been cut in the various districts of Hawke's Bay latelv atnl travelliug around tlie pro viiiee on° gcts an opportunity of eoniparing the crops 111 the difi'erent areas. The J lay that I have seen cut in Southern Huwke'vs Bay seems in particularly good order, due to the ('aet that in most eases the pastures down that end oyer which the mower was passed were in better condition tnr.n some of those down this end. Central Hawke's Bay c-rops, like those at this end of the province are, generally spcaking, not by any means up to the standard of previous seasons, a eondition that can hardly be wondered at, in view of the adverse weather condition s which farmers have had to t'aee. A large number of crops down this end which I have inspected have been particularly woody and dry looking.
