IN THE WATER
HERETAUNGA SWIMMING CARNIVAL. After liaving bad to postpone the opening night several times, on accouut of the weather, tlie Heretaunga Swimniing Club got over their opening carnival in the Maddison Baths last night. Tlie weather was again threatening but it lield good and there was a large attendance of onlookers, who thoroughly enioyed a niost successful carnival The programme was long aud varied and most of the events were very keenly contested. A feature was the splendid exliibition of diving by members of the club. The results were as follows : — Boys' race, 25 yards. — First heat: De Denne (4) 1, B. Wright (4) 2, B. Cliristie (4) 3.
