Tbe birds were put up at 5.20 a.m. on Friday by Mr C. Daily. The first bird to arrive in Napier was H. B. Trubshoe's Recl Streak, wliich fiew ihe distance, 6G2 miles airline, in 26hrs. 9nii»,, a Napier Club record. Tliis bird landed in Napier at 4.30 p.m. on Saturday. A. Greenaway was unfortunate iu not trapping in on Saturday night. His bird' landed on tlie 16ft ancl got sc-ared and lie was unable. to get it^ trappecl until 4.58 Sunday morning* These two birds put up a great effovt. Alr C. C. Willis timed iu on Sunday about 5-10 p.m,, tbe race being closed at 4.30, twenty-four bours aftcv tbe first arrival and just missecj u place. Rc-sults : — H.. B. Trubshoe's Red Streak, 26 brs't 9min ... • 1 A. Grcenaway's b.c. heu, 29hrs, 37 min". ... 2 Tbe Christchurch single-up race resulted as follows : — C. C. Willis' -Bcauty. 13hrs. 4min. 1 A. Grcenaway's Sandy, 14hrs. 22min. 2 Five birds coinpeted in the Christchurch race. Only two timed in iu race time. 'l'bey were put up by Mr S. G. Mallard, of Christchurch.
