Passengers : Cabiu— Misses Searle, Gray, Alesdames Poitcr, M'Gowan, Grossmith, Newton, Holmes, Drs Gatie, Doufflas, Mes.srs Biss, Wilson, Noliui, Jones, Stack wood, Harris, Holmes, Derrett (2), Bright, Day, Shorland, Brown, Piper, Ferris ; 11 sleerasre A very large cargo — over COO tous — was landed at Auckland per mail steamer Mnriposa. made a cnpital run of 18 days 10 hours from San Francisco, including all stoppages. Mr M*l)onald, one of the best-known engineers in tlie Tyser Co, and lately in charge of the Star of New Zealand's engines, is remaiuing- at Uome to superintend the construction of the engines for the steamer now building for the company at Belfast for the New Zealand trade. Mr Cowan, late of the Star of Victoria, is now chief engineer of the Star of New Zealaud. The Star of New Zealand has done splendid work this trip, having steamed in 61 days from Londou to Auckland, including- stoppages at Las Pahiias (to coal), Melbourne, and Sydney. The iitting- of a new fan-engine to the Upolu has necessitated the postponement of her departure until ti pm on Monday.
