PIERPONT MORGAN'S LUCK.
Mr. Pierpont Morgan once did a poor man a good turn by buying his share in a lottery. The share won the prize, and Mr. Morgan was so delighted with the result of his charity that be told the man he would give him ten thousand dollars a year for life. Instead of showing gratitude, tho man said he would prefer twenty thousand dollars down. " But why !" Rskcd the astonished millionaire. " fcecauso," said tho man, " with your confounded luck, Mr. Morgan, I should be dead in sis months." Little EiWe : "Do you loro mo very much, mamma ?" Mamma (a widow) t " Yes, uiy darling." Little Effie : " Then why don't you marry tlie man at the sweetie shvp?"
