leave Lyttelton for Wellington at 5 o'clock this evening. She has 600 tons of cargo to land here. The departure of the steamer for Sydney haß been postponed until 4 o'clook to-morrow afternoon, and she should reaoh the Kew South Wales port next Wednesday morning. The following saloon passengers had booked by the vessel up to noon to-day:— Miss Bird, Mesdames Hill, Greaves, Simpson, and Wilson, Revs. Bartley, O'Gorman, and Rousch, Messrs. Davis, Miller, Simpson, Alderson, Pedley, Richardson, Murray, Greaves, Wilson, Graham, Ward, Coffee, Reid, Nashski, and Franklnnd. The Matatua, of the Shaw-Savill Hue, is expected to leave Auckland for Wellington at noon on Saturday. She has 700, tons of cargo to discharge here, including 91 tons of powder. The vessel is also, bringing a quantity ofttrannhipmenfm from the North for the Corinthio. The Taieri, due from Westport to-day, has 2000 tons of coal for this port ; 800 tons being for the Union Company, and the balance for the We3tport Coal Company. It has been decided that the Whangape will not come on to Wellington, next week, but will complete discharging in the South, and finally lay up at Dunedin. It is stated that the Shaw-Savill Company's ship Westland, Captain Samuel, left London on the sth November for Nelson. HtM.S. Psyche, which 13 at present at Lyttelton, ,is to remain at the Southern port until the 29th December. Messrs. Maeller nnd Quercau, of New York, reporting undn- date 4th November, state that eince their, last report there were few departures, and freight rates' both by steam aud sail , are very much unsettled, it being difficult to quote with any degree of reliability. The desire to secure filling cargo forced different lines to accept bulky line* at some concessions, but how long this will continue ib very uncertain.
