FINANCIERS EMBARRASSED.
ALLEGED SPECIOUS SECURITIES. AN AMERICAN SENSATION. [rBESS ASSOCIATION.] (Received December 3, 8.37 a.m.) NEW YORK, 2nd December. One American bank has failed. Several financiers were embarrassed owing to enormous loans advanced on an alleged specidus story by a borrower that she had £1,000,000 sterling worth of securities in a certain bank. Steps are being taken to compel their B productidri. The borrower is the wife of Mr. Chadwick, a reputed millionaire and physician of Cleveland, Ohio. She denies being ideticnl with Lydia, Dever, the hypnotist,, who was convicted of forgery, and whom she closely resembles.
