The local office of the Union Company has received cable advice that the WaiWare left Sydney at 3 o'clock on Saturday afternoon, and jb expected to reach Wellington about 3 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon. The vessel is bringing 167 saloon and 100 steerage passengers for New Zealand ports, inaluded in which are 112 saloon and 72 steerage passengerß booked for Wellington. She has 420 tons of cargo to land here, and will sail for Melbourne via the South and Hobart at 4 o'oloftk on Thursday afternoon. Mr. T. W. Cook, second officer of the Government steamer Hinemoa, has been promoted to the position of ohief ofllcer of that vessel vice Mr. Hooper, win is leaving for Home, and Mr. Joss, the third officer, has gone up a step. Mr, Cook has been in tho vessel for five and a half years, and has done all the surfing work daring that time. The examination of Captain Collins as pilot I for the port of Neluon is to take place tomorrow. Captains Post and Wildman will oonduct the examination. Advice has been received by tho Union Company that the Wainui arrived at Westport at 11 o'clock last night, and continued her run to Greymouth at 5 o'clock this morning. •Thg Westport Coal Company's collier Caaopus is expected to leave Weatport this evening with a cargo of coal for Wellington. The Talune, due from Auckland, Gisborne, and Napier, to-morrow morning, has 500 tons of cargo to land here. The Oorinna, due from New Plymouth tomorrow, is bringing 12,000 boxes of butter for the Oorinthic. The Rotoiti, which ii expected from Onehunga and New Plymouth on Wednesday, is also bringing a quantity of butter for the Shaw-Savill steamer. The Shaw-Savill steamer Matatua, Captain Griffiths, from London via Auckland, arrived in the stream this morning, and was taken down to the powder ground to discharge explosives. It is not expected that the vessel will berth until to-morrow morning. The barquentine River Boyne, Captain Elbe, arrived from Newcastle yesterday morning, and was berthed at the Railway Wharf thu morning. The vessel had an uneventful pastage across, head winds being enaountered during the greater part of the run. She has a full cargo of coal. Mr. Grono has joined the Stormbird as mate in place of Mr. Munro. Captain Powell, of the Oreti, is making a trip its mate of the Huia, filling the position until recently ocoupied by Mr. Moves.
