The second round of the Pennant matches will be played next Saturday. Petone will meet Newtown on the Thorndon green ; Wellington will 'play Karori on the Victoria green ; and Thorndon and Victoria will try conclusions on the Newtown green. WHOLESALE v. RETAIL. The annual bowling match between the Wholesale and Retail Drapers is to be played next Thursday afternoon on the Wellington ' Club's green. The following teams have been selected: — Wholesale — J. C. The Minister for Customs, Hon. C. H. Mills, informed" the Harbour Board deputation which waited upon him last week that he had had under consideiation for some time the question of adding to the staff of landing waiters in Wellington so as to cope with the increased trade of the port. He has now decided that Mr. Stevenson, of Auckland, and Mr. Cordery, of Wellington, who have been in the Customs Department for some time past, shall be detailed for duty on the wharves in Wellington.
