RIFLE SHOOTING.
Tho Past and Telegraph Rifles fired at 'IVciithatn on Saturday for a tiophy presented by Lieut, K.sson. Ten shots at 500 yds and ten shots at 600 yds wcrn fired, at class-firing target*. Out of a possible 80 points Corpl Bolton Scored 71 and so won tho. competition. Following
■ A gold medal for ahooting haa been donated to the corps by Mr. a. G. Ross, of Willis-street. The D Battery held a competition at Miiumar on Saturday for the belt and other trophies:— The conditions wore: j —200 nnd 600 yards, 10 shots at each distance. Tho highest scores were : — 200 600 Tl. Gunner Raven 16 42 — 88 Sergt. S. Kelly 45 37 — 82 \ Corpl. Day 41 34 —75 j Q.M.S. King , 39 34 —73 The highest aggregate in the five competitions hold are:— A elsiM: Haven,! 122; S. Ketlv. 403; Mherick, 384. B class: Day, 368; Suddaby, 340.
