[BY TKLEOBAPH— I'RBSB ASSOCIATION. 1 CJIRISTCHUHCH, 29th April. An egg-laying competition under the auspices of the Utility Poultry Club was inaugurated this afternoon at Lincoln College. Jt is under control of the diicctor, Mr. W. Lowrie. There aio thirtyeight competitors, und all the birds we're penned to-day with the exception of those (if ono competitor, which arrive to-night. Tho pens were inspected to-day by a largo party. Goneral satisfaction wus expresaed with the arrangements. The directors spoko of the value that a competition in dairying cattle would bo to the colony. The college finances would not permit of such a competition being undertaken, but he suggested that the idea was worthy of consideration hv the Minister for Agriculture. >U>. Uif, M.LLR.,snid if tho Board of Governors of tho college communicated on the subject with the Minister, he ventured to say their representations would 1)9 favourubly received.
