EXPORTING POSTAGE STAMPS

WANGANUI, This Day. At the Magistrate's Court, John, Albert Potter pleaded guilty to attempting to export postage stamps from New Zealand to a neutral country, namely, Switzerland, without thje ■ jconsent. of the Minister of Customs. It was stated by Mr. Gifford Marshall, Crown Prosecutor, that defendant had previously applied for a permit and been refused. He had then attempted toexport stamps, sending them to an agent in Australia for postage to Switzerland. Mr. Wilson, S.M., pointed out that the minimum fine wag £25." He thought the case called for more punishment than this, as defendant had flouted the regulations. Defendant was fined £30, and ordered to pay costs, £3 10s.
