KARORI SCHOOL

A very • successful concert In aid of the funds of Karori School was given in the Parish Hall, Karori, by the pupils on last Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, when the scholars provided a variety entertainment which was greatly appreciated. The programme consisted of various items by the different standards. Pupils of Standard I. rendered "80-Peep," a playlet, with splendid naturalness and vivacity and received well-merited applause. A "Poppylaud Lullaby" and "Silent Night" were sweetly sung by Standards 5 find ti. Folk dancing followed by Standards 2 nid 3, the items being "Tantoll" and "Poloi.alse." Standard 3 with "Come to the Fair" and John Feelian, with a splendid rendering of a recitation "Bad Sir Brian," added to the enjoyment of the audience. Denzil Wilkinson, in a character dance, showed more than ordinary talent. A bracket of songs, "Bony" and "Slumber Song," by Standard 4 completed the first part of the programme. Part 2 consisted of a quaint play, "The Happy Family," in which much skill was shown by the performers.

At the conclusion of the Wednesday performance the proficiency certificates were distributed by Mr. Dyett, the chairman of the school committee. Presentations were also made by the scholars to Mr. J. B. Grant, the headmaster, and to Mr. H. E. Wallis, who is

leaving for Greytown. Robert Cooper, the dux of the school, received a sold medal, and Max Sunley, the next on the list, a bok prize.
