An ancient Turkish bronze gun, cast in 1468, during the reign of Sultan Mehmet 11., and presented to Queen Victoria by Sultan Abdul Aziz in 1867, was recently removed from the Rotunda Museum at Woolwich to the Tower of London, under a War Office scheme to avoid the overlapping- of collections of old weapons. The gun was once mounted at the Dardanelles. It is 17ft long and weighs 18 tons 14cwt. Its calibre is 25in, wad 6cwt.
