PALMEKSTON IS., This Day. This morning broke bright, and, although the tracka are still heavy, it only requires to keep line for the course proper to be in good order on Thursday. A big string of horses were out before breaKirast, and a fair amount of fast work was carried out.
Princess Betty ran half a mile on the outside of the course proper, the flags being 40ft to 50ft out, in 55 2-ssec after a slow jump out. It was a good gallop, as the filly kept at the extreme outside throughout. lied Bank and Vinella were companions round the sand. Both put plenty ot heart into their work.
Koundelay and Battle Torque went together, and finished close over sis furlongs in lmin 27 2,ssec, the first three of which took 42sec. Boundelay went nicely throughout. Otairi left six furlongs behind in lmin 2u'sec. the first three furlongs taking 42sec.
Haukshaw set the pace for Disrank throughout half a mile, covered in Spsec, the youngster showing distinct promise. Disrank goes to Waipukurau.
Hory Mor was too good for Callamart over seven furlongs, covered in lmin 42£ sec.
Good Acre secured a break from Hunting Boy, but the latter came up with his companion at the close of &ye furlongs in lmin 13se6. Full Feather was clear of Ball Dress at tho end of half a mile run in 57 l-ssec.
Piuthair put plenty of vim into his work over a round, the last six furlongs oi which took lmin 28sec. Democratic beat Four Aces over seven furlongs in lmin 41 2-ssec. Semper Paratus and Hurly Burly were together at the end of five furlongs. ■ The last half-mile took 57sec. Parl hung on to Masher over naif a mile, covered in 57sec, with First iiuler three lengths back. Keddar had a slight advantage over Orlenrossie over five furlongs, rur in lmin 11 l-ssec.
Askari was going quite as well as Imperial Spark over seven furlongs run in lmin 42 3-ssec. The first halfmile was covered in 59see. Diana's Lad ran six furlongs in lmin 27 2-osec, the first three of which took a-
King Acre, who ran close in, beat Dobbin over four furlongs in 55 2-ssec Patearoa and Plane were on terms with Fiery Comet beaten off. at the end of six furlongs, run in lmin 26sec Basaloma ran home from the twofurlong post in 26 l-ssee. Air .Force and Warzone jumped off at the six-furlong post, to pick up Eoya Mission at the five furlongs^ The last-named was a shade' in front of Air Force with Warzone a length and .a half back.
