MISUSE OF A GOOD NAME.
Australian'flour exporters have long had a valuable market in Egypt, and have raade a good name in the trade. Information has now been received in Melbourne that French flour is being imported -into Egypt branded "Australian Best." As Egypt is the largest market for Australian flour, the millers immediately caused inquiries to be made into the allegation. They have now received confirmation not only of the first shipment, but of a subsequent one, and a further intimation that other shipments were likely to follow. All the flour, in addition to being branded "Australian Best," is contained in 1501b bags, which is the standard container for Australian flour. The millers have also been informed that the flour is selling among the retailers as being of Australian origin. Representations have been made by the millers to the Federal Ministry, and it is^understood that the British High Commissioner in Egypt has been asked to inquire into the facts, and take the necessary steps to protect Australian interests.
