INSURANCE SICKNESS.D
COMPULSORY SYSTEM. ITS ADOPTION PROBABLE. (Aust. and N.Z. Cable). Geneva, June 14. The Labour 'Conference is likely to adopt two important conventions; one relates to compulsory sickness insurance for workers in industry and commerce, outworkers, and domestic Servants ; ‘ the other relates to agri - cultural workers. Employers have notified they will abstain lrom voting on tlie draft conventions while the workers’ group considering them far from satisfactory will vote for them. Mention was frequently made in debates to the work of the Australian Royal Commission, and an opinion was expressed that if the conventios are adopted they will he valuable in any action contemplated by tha Australian Government. Discussion at the Plenary Sessions indicate a general desire for a universal scheme of sickness insurance.
