Tho Union Steamship Company has definitely decided that the Waikare will replace tho Talunc in tho Auckland-Sydney trade next month, the steamer leaving Dunedin for Coast ports and Auckland on February 19, and leaving Auckland for dney on tho 25th. The American mail s teamer Sie-ra is duo at Auckland from Sydney this morning. She proceeds to Samoa, Honolulu, and San Francisco at noon. . The Union Company’s Omapere (Captain Hut on) arrived on Saturday morning from Nap or, and left for coast ports and Auckland at 10 a.m. Passengers : Inward—Messrs Rutherford, Jarret, Kettle, Prince, Jones, Tiinus, and four stevedores. Outward—Mes(lames Ling, Warner, Condon, Bunlcr, Graham, McGavin, Christian; Miss Christian ; Messrs Gill, Maitland, and 2 navvies. Tho Shire liner Fifeshire, 8,500 tons (Captain B. Coull), arrived from Wanganui on Saturday. The vessel is a new one, and is the first of her company’s magnificent liners to visit this port. She loaded over 500 bales of wool on Saturday, and leaves for the South to-morrow. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. are the local agents. Tho s.s. Weka (Captain Nelson) left for Napier on Saturday with a cargo of wool for the Selkirkshire. Messrs Richardson and Co. s I-anny (Captain Petersen) is expected from Napier to-day with a load of light rails for the railway.
