The ovidcnco taken by the Federation Commission to-day was, on the wholo, adverse to Federation, so far as New Zealand is concerned.
Two of the witnesses approved of tho idea, but advocated a waiting policy to sec how Federated Australia was going to settle its tariff, colored labor, and othor urgent questions. Representatives of tho boot trade expressed tho opinion that boot manufacturing in this colony would bo badly crippled, if not killed, by tho removal of tho protective tariff through Federation.
