SENSATIONAL DIVORCE CASE.
A LETTER FROM THE CARDINAL, A FAITHFUL FRIEND. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Received 12.29 a.m., March 16. Sydney, March 15. - Hearing of the Coningham divorce case was resumed to-day. Tke Cardinal was examined at length. A letter dated November last, from the Cardinal to Doan O’Hnran, was put in as evidence. It stated that tlio former had considered it a matter of duty, and ho wished to convoy, in an official manner, his sinccrcst condolence in the terrible ordeal and persecution to which Dean O’Haran was being subjected. After a tribute to the magnificent success of Dean O’Haran’s ministry, the writer says: “ You may rest assured this attempt of Satan will bo discomfited, and that all these recent trials will only add splendour to the religion amongst us. Our Divine Master permits the present burden and persecution as a lesson to us to bear His cross fruitfully whilst looking solely to Hoaven for toward. Should you require any material aid in your defence against this, malicious conspiracy, you may draw on my account for any sum you require.”
