Mr Barton twitted Mr Reid with not bringing down an adverse motion, if the parties wore as he represented them to bo; In the Senate Mr Millan (New South Wales) moved an amendment to tho Address-in-Reply, that black labor cease / at once. Mr Ewing (Westralia) seconded/ the motion. "■// .-/ Mr Cook, of New South Wales, moved an amendment to the Address-ih-Eeply that the policy outlined in tho speech in regard to black labor was inadequate and not in accord with the views of tho majority of Australian citizens. Replying to Mr Barton, he said that he had not f consulted the Loader of the Opposition about tho amendment.
