BAND CONTEST
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) 'Westport, las tnight. The West Coast Band Contest opened yesterday. The weather was wet, but there was a good attendance at the hall in the evening. The results were: — Baritones—M. Bevan (Westport) 36, W. Garth (Greymouth) 35. Euphonium— M. Bevan (Westport) 38, W. Garth (Greymouth) 87. Tenor horns—W. Taylor (Westport) 37, and Elliott (Denniston) 6. B flat cornets —J. Richards (Westport) 36, J. Goodall (Greymouth) 33. Sopranos— Andrew Robinson (Greymouth) 32, L. Neighbours (Denniston) 31. Clarionets— T. McNeight (Westport) 35, W. Wring (Greymouth) 34.
