The weekly meet of the Poverty Bay Hunt Club took place at Whatatutu yesterday, the ground covered being Mr Devery’s property, Owing to the heavy rain which fell on the previous day, the attendance was not so large as was anticipated. Still, those who did turn out had a capital day’s sport. Mr Walter Hutchison undertook the duties of Master, and led the field from start to finish. He rode the well-known hunter Baldie, who took his fences in splendid style, and generally acquitted himself without a fault. Miss Tait, who. rode Bushwhacker, with her brother on Success, laid the drag over country, which took some getting over. The former took a leading part in the hunt, and was the only lady who followed throughout. She took the fences in a most proficient manner, and was one of the first at the finish. Mr A. Devory on Colonel was well to. tho fore during tho run, as also was a young native named Sydney, who rode a fine chestnut horse from Borne Station. Mr E. Do very on a chestnut mare, Huntsman Malone on Hippogriff, and about a dozen others, including several ladies, were also in attendance'. It is to bo hoped that the elements will be move favorable upon the occasion of the next hunt, as the locality is most suitable, being regarded as one of the best runs in the country..
