Christchurch, last night. The Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has decided to write to the Canterbury members of the House of Representatives, asking them to support the Society’s appeal to the Government for pound for pound subsidy on all moneys collected, the co-operation of kindred societies also to be solicited. Action will also bo taken in regard $o dehorning cattle. The practice oi using boundary dogs to prevent' sheep in outlying districts from straying along roads was strongly denounced by members of the Society. At a meeting of the Bugby Union tonight, the Otago-Canterbury representative match was fixed for August 17, and the Canterbury-Southland representative match for August 21.
